Marketing & Communications Specialist

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is in an exciting chapter of growth and impact. We are currently looking to hire an experienced Marketing & Communications Specialist who is excited to be part of this journey.

The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for strengthening the Chamber’s visibility, elevating its brand, and enhancing the member experience through strategic and engaging communications. Working closely with the President & CEO, this role develops and executes marketing and communications initiatives that amplify the Chamber’s voice and effectively connect with members, business leaders, and the broader community. 


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Marketing, Branding & Communications
  • Develop engaging content for newsletters, social media, the Chamber website, press releases, campaigns, programs, events, and other communications.
  • Design professional marketing and promotional materials, including brochures, sponsorship and program materials, presentations, event collateral, and digital graphics.
  • Manage the Chamber’s communications calendar and email marketing campaigns to ensure timely, coordinated promotion of programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Manage website content and maintain consistent branding across Chamber communications and marketing materials.
  • Partner with the Membership team to support member recruitment, engagement, and retention through targeted marketing and communications.
  • Support media and public relations efforts, including drafting and distributing press releases.
  • Monitor marketing, website, social media, and digital engagement performance and recommend opportunities to strengthen visibility and engagement.
Events
  • Lead the planning and execution of Chamber events in collaboration with Chamber staff.
  • Coordinate event communications, registration, timelines, promotional efforts, and marketing materials.
  • Serve as point of contact at signature events and ribbon cuttings.
What You Bring 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing, communications, branding, social media, and digital content best practices.
  • Ability to create polished, professional marketing materials, graphics, presentations, and digital content.
  • Experience managing website content and using digital engagement metrics to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently, take ownership, and consistently follow through.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with members, community and business leaders, staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress or similar CMS platforms, Google Analytics, Constant Contact, Meta Business Suite, and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in marketing, communications, branding, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience developing written and visual communications across multiple channels, including digital, web, social media, and print.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Strongly preferred that residence is within the region served by the Chamber.
  • Experience working for a chamber of commerce, nonprofit, association, or membership organization

This position is full-time, exempt, on site, Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm with occasional early morning and evening hours. The schedule also includes working on location for meetings and events.

Salary: $55,000-$60,000
