Reports to:  Executive Director
Supervisees: Part-time Development Specialist
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000
Employment Type:  Full-time, exempt, occasional nights and weekends

Scope of Position
 
The Building Goodness Foundation (BGF) Director of Development is responsible for overseeing and ensuring excellence in all aspects of BGF fundraising to support projects and administration, while energizing all partners, staff, volunteers, and donors around the organization’s mission, vision, and core values in support of fundraising activities.
 
Prerequisite Requirements
 

  • Commitment to BGF’s mission to build community and improve lives
  • Four-year college degree or relevant professional experience
  • At least 3-5 years of fundraising or relevant relational experience
  • Experience working with volunteers and ensuring they are well-utilized
  • Natural skill in individual and major donor outreach and relationship building
  • Ability to work with and inspire a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Commitment to understanding the relationship between poverty and the health and wellness of individuals and communities
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capability
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite
  • Experience working in a CRM database, and aptitude to quickly learn
  • Proficiency in social media marketing strategies and tools
  • Preference for working in a collaborative, team environment
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Optimistic and resilient personality
  • Sense of humor
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed
 
 
 
Responsibilities
 
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Work with the Executive Director to fundraise the organization’s annual operating budget (approximately $800,000), as well as program funds
  • Support the development and creation of a robust outreach plan to engage new donors and corporate partners
  • Lead all development initiatives and the staff team to ensure fundraising activities are completed on time and with excellence
  • Ensure that BGF mission, vision, and core values are central to all fundraising and special events
  • Create and implement the fundraising plan for BGF’s Annual Fund, in collaboration with the Executive Director and staff team
  • Build strong relationships with BGF’s donor community, ensuring donors and partners are informed of and inspired by BGF’s work
  • Collaborate with the staff team to explore and identify prospective donors
  • Direct communications activities as it pertains to donor relations and engagement
  • Support grant writing, research, and submission, in collaboration with the Executive Director and staff
  • Support BGF’s Finance and Accounting Team, and the external audit
  • Prepare monthly report of annual fund development activities for the Board
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to predict and track incoming revenue to support the annual fund and projects
  • Ensure that donor database is current and effectively utilized to track and support donor engagement
  • Coordinate a holistic reflection process for special events and initiatives to ensure organizational learning and growth
  • Ensure that donors and volunteers are provided with a meaningful experience that enhances organizational capacity and mission
  • Adhere to best practices and emerging donor engagement strategies through ongoing research, education, and professional development
  • Ensure the effective assessment of fundraising outcomes through data collection to ensure that future fundraising decisions are thoughtful and rooted in qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Function as an ambassador of the organization, effectively communicating the BGF mission, vision, and core values to the community at large and key stakeholders
  • Foster collaborative relationships with fund development staff, the Board of Directors, and volunteers in support of BGF fundraising goals
  • Collaborate with BGF communications staff to maintain fundraising and special events portions of BGF website
