Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as an Assistant to the Executive Director at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville, VA. The role involves providing critical administrative assistance to the Executive Director, maintaining office organization, and utilizing analytical skills to support Center operations. This position plays a vital role in the Development, Learning and Engagement, and Center for Local Knowledge departments, directly contributing to the success and efficiency of the Executive Director’s initiatives.

 Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations
  • Administrative Assistance and Organization Skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Knowledge of CRM Database management
  • Experience in accounts payable and budgeting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of social media platforms a plus

Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends
  • Must have a valid up to date driver’s license and ability to run errands
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.

Compensation + Benefits

The position offers a competitive hiring range of $52,000- $62,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center provides full medical coverage for the employee, 2 weeks paid vacation after 90 days of employment, and a total of 10 paid holidays off.
