John Kovach’s path to solo concert guitarist follows an unusual route. Entirely self-taught, he tutored himself on guitar and piano as accompaniment to his singing. He performed professionally in various rock and folk music ensembles. His acting experience on the New York stage included performing with The New Globe Shakespeare Company and in leading roles for renowned directors Stuart Vaughan and Jacques Cartier. He was a recording session guitarist and later, lead singer and song writer for The Motovators. The Gannett News critics compared his voice to luminaries like Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison. After recording their first album, a vocal cord injury ended his singing and acting career. 

John redirected his focus to mastering the guitar. Mr. Kovach has had the distinction of being the oldest individual to make a sold-out Carnegie Hall Weill Recital solo concert debut. Since 2019, Keswick, Virginia has been home for John and his family.
