This event will allow you to meet our community and learn from culturally responsive practitioners who hold diverse roles in our division with the sole intent of closing achievement gaps for our racially and linguistically diverse students. Our Culturally Responsive Teaching Program is a grassroots, teacher-developed program that uses Zaretta Hammond’s text, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain as a foundation for understanding students’ cultural wealth and assets. As a division, we are committed to establishing strong learning partnerships through teacher-student rapport, maintaining academic rigor, and forging meaningful relationships with our families in order to achieve high academic outcomes.
This year’s Equity Fair features a range of opportunities, including a job fair and community showcase. Our presenters include equity-minded teachers, instructional specialists, and administrators from across ACPS who have received either a micro-credential or full certification in Culturally Responsive Teaching, community partners who have significant, ongoing relationships with students/schools in the Division, and the Human Resources Team who can share current and upcoming career opportunities. These educators are eager to share their work, provide examples with positive impacts on student achievement, as well as, show prospective candidates and community members how to implement Culturally Responsive Teaching best practices in their work.
